Kids Sew Level 1 (Tamra Schenk)

Learn the parts of a sewing machine and how they work. We will practice sewing on paper and advance to fabric samples. We will make a pillowcase to learn about hems and seams, then move to a quilted soft shape, a tote bag, and a pair of shorts. Build skills and confidence with each project.

Supply List: Sewing machine with extra bobbin and needles (size 80/12). Good scissors, pins with large heads, seam ripper, thread to match projects; 1 yard fabric for pillowcase; for tote bag – 1/2 yard fabric, 7/8 yard webbing for handles (can use fabric instead). 8″ X 10″ fabric for pocket; for soft shape  – 2 – 9″ squares and one 9″ contrasting fabric square; for shorts, fabric amount determined in class according to size.
